F.J. Bergmann and Thomas Ferrella: A Cold Read
Thursday, September 30  |  6:30 - 7:15 PM
Venue: Avol's Bookstore
These books will be displayed at Avol's throughout the Wisconsin Book Festival
Presenter(s): F.J. Bergmann, Thomas Ferrella
A Cold Read is a series of books resulting from collaborative performances by photographer Thomas Ferrella and poet F.J. Bergmann, in which Ferrella instantly captured people's uniqueness with a Polaroid camera, then passed the images to Bergmann for her immediate interpretation using a typewriter. The photograph and poem then became individual books and were displayed at the John Michael Kohler Art Center as part of their "Wordplay" exhibit. These performances borrowed a technique from psychic readers called 'cold reading,' which refers to the first reading between a psychic and a client.
