MADISON, October 17--The 2005 Wisconsin Book Festival took place on October 13-17, 2005 and featured an eclectic array of presenters such as one of the world's foremost living novelists Isabelle Allende, graphic novelist Harvey Pekar, Paris Review editor Philip Gourevitch, and the dynamic poet Thylias Moss.

Programs for the 2005 Festival included the Sixty Books Project, Youth Speaks Poetry, A More Perfect Union, Visual Books & Zine Fest, the Lake Effect Poets, a Publisher's Showcase featuring local and national publishers, and a celebration for the 150th Anniversary of the Wisconsin Historical Society Press.

With panels ranging from The Book & the Cook, The Art & Craft of Collaborative Poetry, and a Grantwriting Workshop presented by the Wisconsin Humanites Council, the 2005 Festival had one attendee exclaiming: "It's like being at a writers' conference for free!"
