2006 Festival : A More Perfect Union

The 2006 A More Perfect Union theme, "To Establish Justice," once again came from the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution. The phrase reminds us of our early founders' commitment to a fair and accessible legal system, but also raises relevant questions about the roles both elected officials and common citizens must play in the quest to bring about the oft-mentioned but painfully elusive American ideal of "justice for all."

Presenter for A More Perfect Union at the 2006 Wisconsin Book Festival included:
  • Marge Piercy
  • James Yee
  • Jonathan Harr
  • Anthony Grooms
The WHC's A More Perfect Union book series offers quality literature and film to the people of Wisconsin to promote discussion about American ideals, realities, and policies. "To Establish Justice" books, film, and discussion guides are available from the Wisconsin Humanities Council and many local libraries.
